Anders Thomsen
Singer | Songwriter | Guitar Slinger
Anders Thomsen is a firebrand of old school honky-tonk, country blues, and vintage rock ‘n roll grit.
Boot-stomping music. Fast, raw, and ready to roll.
He’s the real deal: 40 years of playing live shows, from Southern honky-tonk brawlers to the bright lights of NYC and Europe. Anders has played with greats like Chuck Berry at Wrigley Field and shared bills with Hank III, Billy Joe Shaver, Junior Brown, Asleep at the Wheel, and Dale Watson, to name a few.
Notable shows include Robert’s of Nashville, TN, Cain’s Ballroom of Tulsa, OK, The Continental of Austin, TX, the South Fork Ranch of Dallas, TX, and a show in the works with Nashville, TN Honky Tonk Tuesdays with the Cowpokes at Eastside Bowl.
Anders Thomsen Trio includes double bass, drums, and Anders on guitar and vocals. He owns the stage and can work a crowd, throwing down barn burners and ballads with an easy smile and a glint in his eye.
Blazing guitar licks, smooth baritone. Raw talent.
Anders and his trio keep the music rolling steady and strong with a mix of originals as well as covers of Earnest Tubb, Chuck Berry, Big Mama Thornton, Patsy Cline, Hank I, II, and II, and even the odd Radiohead song.
Anders Thomsen has deep roots. This midwestern boy grew up on the music that makes America. The Twang of the Opry on a Saturday night, the Rock n Roll on the stereos in the Chevys and the Fords and the Blues and Soul spilling out of the nightclubs he snuck into. He heard all that and made it his own.
He picked up the heartbreak and the joy of the blues, and matched it with the lonesome, lovelorn hillbilly waltz and powered it all with those rock and roll V-8s.
He got an early start, playing in bars and nightclubs before he was old enough to drive, sometimes even with a note from his mother. He sang, played guitar, played bass and even played the washtub. Anything to get him on stage to learn the craft.
As a teen in Lansing, Michigan, Anders shared the stage with the legendary Chuck Berry. For two summers, he backed Chuck as a member of the Boogie Bob Band, including a show at Wrigley Field. At 17 Anders left home for New York City and spent over a decade sharpening his skills.
Now with 40 years of experience playing America and Europe, it shows.
Anders hits the stage with an easy smile and owns the room before playing a single note. And his authentic cowboy vibe? You’ll swear he just arrived on horseback strumming a tune.
His live shows? Buckle up, friends. Fast, raw, and ready to roll. Like joy-riding in a hot-wired 60s Cadillac with cut brake-lines. It’s only “rolling stops” with this band, no momentum-muffling flat-tire stage silences.
Quick on the draw with blazing fast guitarwork on instruments he hand-crafted with pride. His high-octane, barn-burning baritone vocal performances leave you buzzing long after the music stops.
Anders’ repertoire is a mix of hard-hitting originals and timeless classics from legends like former stage-mate Chuck Berry, Hank Williams, and Bob Wills.
Whether it’s a foot-stomping anthem or a soulful blues riff, Anders commands the crowd with a blend of authenticity and grit that makes every show feel like a celebration of the roots of American music.
From the first note to the final encore, Anders Thomsen’s live performances are a ride you won’t want to miss.

I’ve played all over the States. Every joint between here and overseas, too. But mostly it’s been the bars and honky-tonks of the good ol’ USA.
I have played with rock and roll legends like Chuck Berry and Sylvain Sylvain, R&B and Blues legends like Martha Reeves and Willie Dixon and country legends like Billy Joe Shaver and Dale Watson. My old band, The Ex-Husbands, has had two albums in the top 10 on the Americana charts!
